This has to be one of my favorite new websites. I have thought for quite some time that sharing when you are on vacation, etc. on social networking sites was not a good idea. I even go so far as to still set timers when I go out of town. Now someone has taken this thought and put it into website form. At Please Rob Me information is gathered in real time from twitter and Foursquare to keep website viewers abreast of when people are not at home.
I believe this website was created to bring to light the danger of listing where you are at all times and not actually be a burglary tool. However, the terminology on the site speaks to "crooks." When someone announces they are not at home, it is listed as a "new opportunity."
If there questions still linger as to whether mobile is a dominant tool in people's lives sites like this let us know it reaches far beyond simple communication and deep into life patterns. So what does this have to do with marketers? Well, this site nothing directly. But in general, it shows the true reach of mobile and how personally people interact with it. The more sincere a mobile marketing campaign, the more impact and influence it will have.
Ballyhoo Mobile has some incredibly exciting, new partner campaigns launching soon. We will post some details once launched!
